Many students are quickly flying through the fact fluency levels.  Yay!  If your student is still on addition or subtraction, I’d love an extra “push” this week to help them through this.  Remember, they can use any strategy to help them practice their facts!  Email if you need some ideas.
Snack Reminder:
Snack takes place in the morning from 10:00 to 10:10.  This needs to be a fluid part of our day that is not interrupted by wrappers, spoons, etc.  Please make sure that snack is healthy, nut free, and easy to eat.
We finished two whole weeks of our new PBL work.  Now we are moving to the exciting group work phase.  Students may be coming home and asking for materials.  Please contact me if this is going to be a challenge.

Check out PBL updates on twitter!
Weekly Focus

Reading - Reading and responding to fiction texts

Writing - Creating a presentation

Math - Multiplication

PBL - Information Transfer Systems

Student Led Conferences!!!
I hope that you enjoyed them as much as I did.  I learned a lot about your children and your expectations through these.  This is just one step of our communication.  Please email or call if you need anything.
If you have any questions or concerns, never hesitate to email me.  I read often and respond quickly.

PBL #2

We are well on our PBL journey #2.  Want to come along?

Step 1:  Introduce our driving question and determine our "need to knows."
The question is teacher generated, but the questions came from this very delightful group of smarty pants.  I love how they think.

Week Six Already?

Where has the time gone?  Take a look at the learning that stuck out to us this week...

What is Visual Literacy?

We ask students at A2 STEAM to be literate in many ways.  They need to be literate in reading, writing, math, and technology.  Now we have visual literacy.  Here is a great video that shows how we can think about everyday objects in a very different way!

Our new PBL Unit has begun!
Our driving question is “How can we use light and sound patterns to transfer information?”  Last week, we learned some important much needed information on light and sound.  This week we will write proposals to our groups for specific information transfer (communication) systems.
