Ted Sanders Visits A2 STEAM!

Ted Sanders, author of The Keepers series, visited A2 STEAM today and gave a highly engaging presentation. From talking about his life as a writer and hooking the kids on his books to conducting science experiments with audience participation, he had it all! Here is a video documenting our students' experience:  Mr. Sanders embarked upon a book tour in early March and has been vlogging about his travels as he goes. Used Book Sale Collection Concluded

Thank you for taking the time to sort through your home collections and bring in items for A2 STEAM. We have had a fantastic turnout for the Used Book Sale! As a result, we have a very nice variety for our students and families to choose from at the sale during the Expo. Remember, all items are only a quarter! Author Ted Sanders to Visit A2 STEAM posted Mar 8, 2016, 2:23 PM by Anne Reader   [ updated Mar 8, 2016, 2:23 PM ] Ted Sanders, author of The Keepers series, will visit A2 STEAM on Tuesday, March 22 to present to 4th-7th grade students. Not only will he talk to them about the inspiration for his books and about his life as a writer, he will also be conducting science experiments! The main character of his first book, The Box and the Dragonfly, is a fellow who is curious about the world and looks at it through the lens of a scientist. In order to learn more about his mysterious magical box, Horace conducts a series of science experiments. The result of those science experiments launches the hair-raising adventures in the rest of the book! This event is generously sponsored by Nicola's Books. Books will be offered through the pre-sale order form attached to this post, as well as on the day of the event. Students may stay after the presentation for a few moments to speak with the author and get their books signed. Food Gatherers Food Drive Annual AAPS district wide/Rotary/Food Gatherers Food Drive is from March 7-18th. The food bank is in particular need of high-protein products, canned fruit, baby food/formula and Ensure or other nutritional supplement drinks. At STEAM, you will find donation boxes outside the main office and at the top of the stairs at the back entrance. Financial donations are also welcomed online at www.foodgatherers.org/rotary	March is Reading Month Want to come read to our class.  Sign up here! The second big event is the first-ever Used Book Sale, happening on Saturday, March 12 from 2-5pm in conjunction with the Heritage Festival.
