  1. We are finishing up our Read Aloud “Tomorrow Girls”. Create an artistic representation in the medium of your choice (watercolor, colored pencil, etc…) to represent some aspect of the book. It could be a portrait of a character, what Country Manor itself looks like-- totally up to you.
  2. Create an opinion piece of writing at least three paragraphs in length, explaining which Read Aloud you have enjoyed most this year and why. Be sure to write your paragraphs in paragraph form.
  3. Create 2 multi-step division problems. Each problem should require at least three steps to solve it. Solve the problems on a separate sheet of paper.
  4. You choose!  Come propose something to me!

Mindfulness

Next year the entire school will be using a program called MindUp to help students learn to control their thoughts and feelings.  4th grade decided to pilot it this year.  This week we will focus on breathing to help stay calm and focused.  So take a minute to ask your student about this.

  1. Create a comic, story or poem that teaches someone about the Bill of Rights. Be sure to include what it is and why it’s important.
  2. Make a Liquid-Volume Figure (use the attached sheet).
  3. If you could add (create your own) or remove an amendment to the Constitution, what would it be? Defend your response in 3 paragraphs.
  4. Write a story about what you did over break. It can be completely true, or it can be fictional and just inspired by something you did over break. It should include all the components we have been learning about this week (exposition, rising action, climax, falling action and resolution).
  5. You choose!  Come propose something to me!

Please consider donating!

Our students are Readers with a capital R! I have trouble keeping up with their requests for new materials. To keep them satisfied, I have put together a Donors Choose grant for student requests.

If you are not aware, students can request new books for the collection any time. Let me tell you, they stuff my request box full! I've recently gone through the latest suggestions and added them to this grant.

Purchasing new materials (and doing so for specific students, even) is the easiest way to connect students to the Media Center. It helps me build community and it makes their voices heard.

Feel like donating? Head on over to my Donors Choose page and help out today! As a special bonus, use the code EMPOWER through Thursday, April 21 and Donors Choose will match your donation dollar for dollar (up to $100).
